I've lived in City 17 for twelve years now, but things have never been this bad. Ever since I started hearing rumours of this "Freeman" guy, the CPs have been getting brutal - I heard that one squad raided an entire block looking for him, and then completely disappeared. I mean, how does one guy take out an entire squad of CPs without a single gunshot?

The next day:

Apparently, the Freeman managed to break into Nova Prospekt and break someone out, I've no idea whom. Who the hell does he think he is? He breaks into the most heavily guarded prison in the northern hemisphere, kills half the guards, and two combine gunships, and breaks out again, supposedly unharmed. Is this man some sort of god? Apparently now, he's killed at least several hundred combine soldiers and CPs, and taken down three or four gunships.

One week later:

Bloody hell! Over the last week, the city has turned into a war-zone - the Resistance decided that now was the time to try and take down the Combine. I think they probably heard what happened at Nova Prospekt, and wanted to replicate what Freeman did there. I heard he's just an MIT physicist - how the hell did an MIT graduate become a superhero? And another thing, there's this horrible Mech-thing that's been tearing up the city, and I think it belongs to the Resistance - just another reason to hate those anarchists. I'm pretty sure that even some of the CPs have started turning over to their side. I just hope it's over soon.

A few hours later:

What the hell just happened? The bloody Citadel just exploded! I think Dr Breen is probably dead now, so I guess the Resistance won. It's weird, I didn't see hundreds of Resistance fighters charging into the Citadel, as you might expect, but only maybe one or two. And half of those were in that captivity of the Combine, so one guy took down the whole of the Citadel. As if breaking into and out of Nova Prospekt wasn't crazy enough. I wonder if he was an MIT guy, that'd be ironic.
